I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1966. I got my degree in physics in 1995 and my PhD in 2001, both at the University of Buenos Aires. Then, I spent two years with a postdoctoral contract at the Chalmers University of Technology in Goteborg, Sweden (2002-2004). Then I moved to San Sebastian, Spain, to do research at the Donostia International Physics Center. Since 2002 I explore the relations between science and art, the reciprocal influences and the common ideas. In 2005 I won my first literary price with the short story La filtración (The filtration), which occurs in that diffuse frontier between rationality and irrationality, between science and art. Since 2008 I am tenured scientist at the CSIC (National Spanish Research Council) and develop my research activity at the Material Physics Center in San Sebastian. In October 2011 I organised an International Meeting about Literature and Science, in the frame of the Mestizajes Program. Currently, I am working in the development of a new experimental approach to measure the dielectric response at the nano-scale while at the same time I write essays and fictions, which explore the relations between science and art.
Nací en Buenos Aires, Argentina, en 1966. Estudié física en la Universidad de Buenos Aires donde me licencié en 1995 y me doctoré en 2001. Posteriormente realicé estancias posdoctorales en la Universidad de Chalmers, en Goteborg (Suecia) y en el Donostia International Physics Center, en San Sebastián (España). Desde 2002 me dedico a investigar las relaciones entre ciencia y arte, las influencias recíprocas y las ideas comunes. En 2005 gané mi primer concurso literario con el cuento La filtración, que transcurre precisamente en esa frontera difusa entre racionalidad e irracionalidad, entre ciencia y arte. Desde 2008 soy científico titular del CSIC y desarrollo mi actividad investigadora en el Centro de Física de Materiales en San Sebastián. En Octubre de 2011 organicé un Encuentro Internacional sobre Literatura y Ciencia, en el marco del Programa Mestizajes. En la actualidad, trabajo en el desarrollo de una nueva técnica experimental para medir la respuesta dieléctrica a nano-escala al tiempo que escribo ensayos y ficciones que exploran las relaciones entre ciencia y arte.
