
He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1966. He got his degree in Physics in 1995 and his PhD in 2001, both at the University of Buenos Aires. He spent two years with a postdoctoral contract at the Chalmers University of Technology in Goteborg, Sweden (2002-2004). Then he moved to San Sebastian, Spain, to do research at the Donostia International Physics Center. Since 2002 he explores the relations between science and art, the reciprocal influences and the common ideas. In 2005 he won his first literary Price with the short story La filtración (The filtration), which takes place in that diffuse frontier between rationality and irrationality, between science and art. Since 2008 he is tenured scientist at the CSIC (National Spanish Research Council) and develops his research activity at the Material Physics Center in San Sebastian. In particular, Gustavo is working in the development of a new experimental approach to measure the dielectric response at the nano-scale. In 2010 he founded the Mestizajes Programme and since then he is the Director of the programme. In this context, he organized two International Conferences about Literature and Science (2011 and 2014), he created the Writers in Residence Programme and he wrote in collaboration with Luisa Etxenike the theatre play The interview. He has published the short-story collection The other side.
