NOVEL SINTERING
And CLINKERIZATION METHODS
Combining knowledge from different disciplines like solid-state physics, soft-matter physics, geochemistry and chemical engineering, the “Ceramic and Cement-based Materials” group focuses on the computational design and synthesis of new ceramic and cement based materials with lower CO2 fingerprint. Among its different lines of research, they are worth mentioning:
* The implementation of new hydrothermal and supercritical fluids (SCF) technologies for the ultra-fast synthesis of ceramic nanoparticles
* The development of new sintering methodologies through the use of autoclaves or microwaves that allow notable energy saving and a drastic reduction of CO2 emission
* The development of new cement-based materials for energy storage applications
* The design and development of photonic meta-concretes (PMC) for applications in buildings, solar cells or telecommunications

MIRACLE PROJECT ACCEPTED
THE BORN OF PHOTONIC META-CONCRETES !
Led by Jorge S. Dolado (CFM CSIC-UPV/EHU and with the collaboration of colleagues from UPNA (Spain), TU Darmdstad (Germany), TECNALIA (Spain), KU Leuven (Belgium), Microlight3D (France) and Politecnico di Torino (Italy), this project proposes the advent of a new varity of concrete, the Photonic Meta-Concrete (PCM), whose response to light is engineered for exhibiting radiative cooling ability; i.e. the PMC is able to expel heat from buildings to the outer space without any extra energy consumption

TRANSBORDER "GREEN CONCRETE" LAB LAUNCHED
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS
Led by Jorge S. Dolado (CFM CSIC-UPV/EHU and Cyril Aymonier (University Bordeaux&CNRS) this new transborder lab "GREEN CONCRETE" aims to be a local response to the global warming problem in the context of cement-based materials.
