CFM Researcher Irene Toledo Alday Named Finalist for the Luis Felipe Torrente Award for Science Communication in Medicine and Health for Her Article “The Art of Molecular Flirting”

What do molecules have in common with a first date? This is the premise explored by Irene Toledo Alday, a predoctoral researcher at the CFM, in her popular science article published on the prestigious platform, The Conversation.

Using clear and accessible language, Irene explains how molecules, after a series of random encounters, are able to organize themselves to form complex and stable structures.

The Luis Felipe Torrente Award for Science Communication, where this article was named a finalist, is an initiative jointly promoted by the Lilly Foundation and the academic platform The Conversation Spain. Established in 2021, the award’s primary objective is to promote and recognize excellence in science communication within the Spanish-speaking world. It is specifically aimed at young researchers under the age of 35, doctoral students, and faculty members affiliated with universities or research centers, encouraging them to convey technical knowledge from their areas of expertise to society through rigorous, engaging, and accessible formats for the general public.
