FOTCIENCIA21
The photographic exhibition FOTCIENCIA21 promoted by the CSIC opens in Donostia / San Sebastian on December, with the help of the Center for Physics of Materials (CFM), and Sociedad Fotográfica de Gipuzkoa.
The exhibition includes 49 images that will not leave anyone indifferent. They are nano, micro and macroscopic views of the world taken by researchers and photography enthusiasts, and this is the only opportunity to enjoy it in the Basque Autonomous Community.
In FOTCIENCIA citizenship provides a scientific view and science a vision of the beauty and humanity that lies behind the most advanced imaging techniques.

FOTCIENCIA21 saw the participation of 233 people, who submitted a total of 500 entries across all categories. Within the ‘General’ and ‘Micro’ categories, images could be entered into the specific categories ‘Sustainable Agriculture’ and ‘Food and Nutrition’; furthermore, secondary school and vocational training students once again had the ‘Science in the Classroom’ category in which to submit their photographs. Finally, this twenty-first edition continues the ACTS (Art, Science, Technology and Society) category, which invites entries from any artistic discipline, inspired by photographs from previous editions.
The selection of the images featured in this catalogue has been made possible thanks to the work of a committee comprising professionals from the fields of science, science communication, the visual arts and culture.
