Scientific Framework
Our research programme is organised within a coherent scientific framework built around a core axis of fundamental research and two complementary axes of societal and technological projection. This structure reflects our fact that advances in fundamental science are the primary drivers of progress in quantum technologies and sustainability.
The scientific activity of the Centre is organised around a common mission: to advance the fundamental understanding of matter by uncovering emergent phenomena arising from the interplay between structure, dynamics, and interactions across different length and time scales. This mission provides the conceptual basis for addressing major scientific and technological challenges. To this end, the Centre combines advanced experimental, theoretical and computational approaches, with the development of novel methodologies and instrumentation and the strategic use of large-scale international research facilities.
The definition and implementation of this scientific framework are the result of an internal process of reflection and consolidation, informed by external advice and supported by dedicated internal structures.
